Australia's Outback: Coober Pedy to Alice Springs bus tour September 2011

The second stage of the bus tour Ellen and Doug took into the outback of central Australia, exploring Coober Pedy, the opal capital of the world and home of underground cave hotels, the The Big Winch, Josephine's kangaroo orphanage and Boothill Cemetery, before continuing on to Alice Springs. Along the way they stopped at the Dog Fence (built to keep Dingos from migrating into sheep grazing country in southeastern Australia) and the Breakaways reserve in South Australia, before crossing over into the Northern Territory. In NT they visited Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and Kings Canyon, camped out in Australian Swags, and passed by wild camels, immense salt lakes and Mt Connor (also called "Fooluru for its resemblance to Uluru), before ending their adventure in the town of Alice Springs.
